  3. Home • 1. Purpose The purpose of this GPCA procedure is to define minimum requirements for conducting Responsible Care Self Assessments and preparing GAP and Action Plan Reports.

  4. Home • 2. Scope • This procedure applies to all GPCA members performing initial Responsible Care Self Assessments in 2010. It also applies to new members joining GPCA once the 2010 self assessment process is complete.

  5. Home • 3. Definitions • Ratings (1-5) • There is no evidence that the requirement is recognized. There is no implementation action ongoing or planned. • The requirement is recognized but is only partially being complied with and shows significant gaps and weaknesses. There is no adequate plan to implement this requirement beyond the current level of compliance. • The requirement is already partially implemented and there is an adequate plan in place to fully implement it. Implementation progress is less than originally planned. • The requirement is being implemented and there is an adequate plan in place to fully implement it. Implementation progress is in accordance with or better than the plan. • The requirement is currently fully met with negligible non-compliance. There are adequate systems in place to ensure continuous compliance and improvement.

  6. Home • 4. Subject Matter Expert Assessment Phase • Company Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) answer self assessment questions individually. • Company SMEs meet in a workshop setting to: • Align on ratings • Align on evidence • Align on Gaps, including Gaps identified with the GPCA Codes of Management Practices

  7. Home • 5. Focus Group Assessment Phase • Using questions from the GPCA Self Assessment Tool • Identify questions that apply for specific target audiences (focus groups) • * The GPCA assessment protocol suggests target audiences for each question. Each company will need to adjust question selection for their organization. • Schedule Focus Group sessions, explain what the Responsible Care initiative is about and using the same process as in 3 b. complete the assessment process for that group. • Identify possible solutions to close the GAPS with each focus group

  8. Home • 6. Data Alignment Phase • Once all the focus groups sessions are complete: • Compare focus group data to the company SME data. • Make proposed changes to SME data if necessary. • Meet with SME group again to align on final data and develop proposed execution plan to address gaps. • Report internally to Executive Management on results, recommendations and gain alignment on path forward. • Send assessment results and execution plan to close the GAPS to GPCA in the desired format (page 4 of this procedure). Include strengths and opportunities for improvement.
