  1. Article3: Caisafety.com Fall Protection Across Various Industries By the mandates of ANSI and OSHA, every organization that has workers busy on sites and other tasks is aware of the importance of fall protection systems. The mandate that a safety mechanism is mandatory wherever a human is working at a height greater than six feet has every organization turning to safety equipment companies that are in the possession of such arrangement that will prevent any mishaps and fatalities on a worksite. Many of you may not have known that fall protection systems are actually industry-specific. A variation in design and functions is seen – this variation is basically to suit the working environment and physics of the kind of work. The most common kind of industry work on elevated surfaces is the work done on tanks and roofs. For this kind of work, devices like access platforms and access gangways are provided by the safety equipment companies. These safety arrangements are very well thought-out and provide protection against dangers of working on elevated units. In the aircraft industry, risk of fall is present when there is work to be done on the fuselage exterior and the wings. Fall arrest systems designed specifically for this kind of work are Positioning Bridges. This is a mechanism which is particularly flexible as it allows the workers to have access to all aircrafts within the hangar. It does not occupy any additional space, and still gives access to any aircraft in any orientation within the hangar. The industry also utilizes portable vacuum anchors, which can be fixed anywhere with absolute grip. This device is highly compact and easily portable. All this equipment is carefully designed to remain within OSHA compliance standards, so safety is guaranteed. Another industry where safety services are required is the railcar industry. This industry also calls for fall arrest anchors of some kind because the workers are required to climb up the railcars and work. Some of the most common mechanisms used for this purpose are Outdoor Freestanding mechanisms and Indoor building mounted mechanisms. The former mechanism is for outdoor installation. It is firmly supported on concrete piers. It usually comes into use while loading and unloading operations on railcars. The latter mechanism is custom-designed to fit well with the existing structure your facility provides. The railcar drives-in and the workers perform their tasks on the roof, safely secured to the line. Apart from the requirement of safety systems, there is also a need to impart fall arrest training to the workers. This training equips them with the skill of preventing mishaps should something go wrong. They need to be well accustomed to the kind of devices they will be using for their safety. They should know how to operate these devices, how to fix it if something goes wrong. Fall protection training is also provided by the same companies that provide safety equipment. The mandates circulated by authorities like OSHA and ANSI have made work sites very safe for the working professionals. To know more about ANSI fall protection, visit Caisafety.com ABOUT THE AUTHOR Brent Owens is a safety expert who works hand in hand with many construction companies across the country to ensure that employees are always protected while at work.
