  1. How to be a MATH Detective 1. Read the story. Reread the question carefully to understand what the problem asks. 2. Underline or highlight key words for clues. 3. Cross out irrelevant/unnecessary information. 4. Use a strategy: (Draw a picture, show an operation, remember a rhyme, etc). 5. Solve the problem.

  2. Order the Numbers Ian lays four number cards in a row, but they’re all scrambled. He wants to put them in order from greatest to least. The numbers are 1,032; 1,009; 1,201; 999. Help Ian put the numbers in order.
