  4. Module learning outcomes: 1) Demonstrate an understanding of the key processes involved with team formation and team dynamics 2) Identify and apply the critical factors, such as conflict, emotional intelligence and conformance, associated with creating an effective team working environment. 3) Understand and differentiate between leadership styles and management styles. 4) Evaluate and demonstrate effective personal and interpersonal skills when working as part of a team.

  5. The Seminar • 1 hour (practical seminar) • Active participation in class • use any personal computer or phone only for class-related activities while in class • Tutor will provide you with regular feedback. • Group presentations on weekly journal articles (see module guide pages 4p.) • Practical Exercises

  6. Seminar team formation for journal article presentations • Please fill in your names in provided list. • A final group allocation list will be published on VLE in week 3.

  7. Recap on how to read a journal article • How to read effectively? • Preparation • Deciding for what to read • Read for breath first • Then read in depth • Use references for further reading • Take notes – key points, summary, your reaction

  8. Group Exercise • Form groups of 6 • You and your group find yourselves in a plane crash in the Brazilian rainforest (see hand out) • You can only take 7 items with you • Your task is to work out which items you will take • Pick one group member to present your reasoning
