  1. Disc Brake Conversion MOVES THE WORLD

  2. Trailer Industry The Trailer Industry Is Converting To Disc Brakes Just Like The Automotive Industry Did In The 1960’s

  3. Trailer Industry During the past 20 years, trailers have grown larger and heavier and tow vehicles are continually getting lighter. Despite the increasing demands of trailer braking systems, most trailers still utilize electric drum brakes, which have shown very little improvement since the 1950’s.

  4. Reasons To Ask Yourself What is Stopping You?

  5. Better Performance Notice the drop in performance of this drum brake when tested at highway speed.

  6. 60 to 0 Is An Important Tool You will see a 35% to 58% shorter stopping distance with disc brakes INDEPENDENT RESULTS 40 MPH TO A COMPLETE STOP USING TRAILER BRAKES ONLY

  7. Fewer Moving Parts Fact • Disc Brake Calipers have one moving part • Drum Brakes have between six and twelve moving parts

  8. LOWER MAINTENANCE COSTS

  9. Types of Trailers Currently Using Disc Brakes

  10. To 12,000 lbs

  11. Replacement Parts Caliper Parts Available at Your Local Auto Parts Store

  12. Conversion Convert from Drum to Disc Brakes with Ease

  13. Engineering Meets or Exceeds CSA-D313 Requirements

  14. Stopping Distance

  15. Brake Components Tailored To Your Customer’s Environment Automotive Finish Silver Cadmium Plating E-coating Stainless Steel

  16. Disc Brakes What Do I Need To Know About How To Actuate Disc Brakes? Brakes Can Perform No Better Than The Actuator Driving Them?

  17. Electric / Hydraulic Actuator An Actuator Can Perform No Better Than The Controller Driving It! Use Only Inertia Based Controllers A Decelorometer vs. Pendulum

  18. MOVES THE WORLD

  19. BrakeRite EHB & II • Reliable Performance • All Components Self Contained • Superior Performance • Use Any Brake Control • 70+ Cubic Inches Per Minute

  20. BrakeRite II EHB and II • Response Time • Better Known as “Pucker Time” • TIME TO 200 PSI TIME TO 90% MAX PRESSURE • TITAN 0.3 SECONDS 1.1 SECONDS • CARLISLE / DEXTER 1.3 SECONDS 3.4 SECONDS

  21. Disc Brakes Conversion • Axle Size • Number Of Axles • Spring or Torsion • Number of Bolt Holes • If Eight Hole Size of Studs

  22. Remove Electric Brakes • Simply Remove Brake Cluster • Inspect Bearings • Most Cases Can Reuse Bearings • Remove Any Wiring

  23. Install Disc Brakes Clean Spindle Bolt Bracket To Flange Mount Calipers at 10:00 Slide on Rotor Install Bearings & Seals

  24. Install Actuator • Find Proper Location • Current Wiring • Near Batteries • Easy to Install Lines • Wire Actuator

  25. Wiring EHB • Proper Wire • White & Black 12 Gauge • Blue 18 Gauge • Violet & Brown 14 Gauge • No Frame Ground • Back to Battery

  26. Wiring EHB

  27. Install Brake Lines • Choose Proper Line Kit • Single, Tandem, Triple • Torsion or Spring • Use Only DOT Approved • No Vertical Coils

  28. BrakeRite Bench Test • Important – Follow in This Order • Touch The White Wire To The Negative Port • Touch The Black Wire To The Positive Post • Nothing Should Happen Yet • Add The Blue Wire To The Positive Post • The BrakeRite Should Immediately Run • If The BrakeRite Does Not Run, There Maybe a Problem With The System • If It Does Run, Then A Wiring Problem Exists or An In Cab Control Problem Is the Issue

  29. Bleed and Check • Pull Breakaway Switch and Bleed • Start With Farthest from Actuator • Insert Breakaway Switch and Check Fluid Level • Repeat to Next Caliper

  30. Controller Compatibility Check EHB Manual For Compatible Controllers Ford / Chevy Integral System 2006.5 and Newer
