Program Background The 30-credit Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc) degree at Penn State helps: • Expand your knowledge of accounting, emerging, advanced-skill concepts and strategic-level skills to meet the demands of a fast-changing economy • Better prepare you for the uniform CPA examination • Advance your qualifications for promotions

Career Opportunities in Accounting A Penn State Accounting degree can open the door to career opportunities: • Accounting Consultant • Chief Financial Officer (CFO) • Controller • External Auditor • Government Accountant • Internal Auditor • Not-for-Profit Accountant • Staff Accountant • Tax Accountant • Tax Director • Tax Partner The Pennsylvania Department of Labor projects that by 2022, employment opportunities for accountants in the state will increase by 8.2% — or more than 1,200 new jobs.

Program Features The Master of Professional Accounting program requires 30 credits: • 21 credits of core courses • 6 credits of electives • 3 credits of a capstone course Courses are offered in seven-week sessions. Classes meet two evenings per week in a face-to-face format or in a blended format with an online component. There are six, seven-week sessions each academic year.

  7. ACCTG 831 Advanced Auditing Integrates material you learned in the preceding courses and, through case studies, will focus on investigative accounting, consulting, and litigation support activities that you undertake in forensic accounting engagements. Curriculum – Capstone Course

  8. Applicants should have completed in a satisfactory manner a minimum of course work in designated areas: Financial Accounting Managerial Accounting Intermediate Accounting I Intermediate Accounting II U.S. Federal Taxation Auditing Program Prerequisites

Admissions Requirements • Online degree application • Upload to the Online Application: • Scanned official transcript(s) • Scanned official diploma/certificate (international applicants) • Résumé • Statement of Intent or Career Objective • TOEFL or IELTS (international applicants) • Two references • GMAT or GRE score $65 nonrefundable application fee (can be waived)

GMAT WAIVER Applicants may request a waiver if they meet one out of the criteria outlined below: • An undergraduate junior/senior GPA of at least a 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (*first class) at a regionally accredited university with AACSB, EQUIS, or AMBA accredited business programs • An advanced degree (e.g., master’s or higher) from a regionally accredited university with AACSB, EQUIS, or AMBA accredited programs • Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the business honor society recognized by AACSB • One or more professional business certifications including a CFA, CPA, FRM, and/or CMA • A doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., M.D., J.D.)
