What is ergonomics? • Ergonomics is the scientific study of people in relation to their environment. • It ‘s adapting the environment to people. • This can be a product, space or workplace. • But it’s also training of members so they can better adapt to their environment. • It ‘s derived from the Greek words Ergon (work) and Nomos (law) and it assures the safety & health of the members.

What is the goal of focus? • Goal: • Increase everyone’s awareness • Avoid incidents/ accidents • Talk about ergonomic issues • SCW when there is a NOK situation • How to obtain this: • Ergo coaches who will explain basic rules and the importance of this. • Banner campaign to support the awareness of the basic rules. • Increase everyone’s awareness by follow-up on gemba. • Learn from best practices

  8. Why basic rules? • Goal: • Think about your posture when lifting/ handling parts • Reducing the load on your back • Prevent chronic pain in back • Reduce ergonomic incidents/ accidents • Increase awareness of good postures

Regional depots and SOX • 2005 : start of extensive internal audit on all processes and controls done on these processes • Dec 2006 : same audit done by external auditor • Mar 2007 : received first external certification • 2008-... : SOX audit performed on a yearly base by external audit. • As from 2012: Audit ongoing to continue “self reliant” status
