  1. Converting to Rational Numbers

  2. Whole numbers are 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, … • Integers include all the whole numbers and also their negative versions: …, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, …All whole numbers are integers but there are some integers that are not whole numbers. • Rational numbers can have the formwhere p and q are integers and q is not 0. All integers are rational numbers, but there are some rational numbers that are not integers.

  3. Put the following in their correct spots in your diagram: -4312 -7 5 0 8254 25 -42 -100

  4. To convert integers into rational numbers, put them over a denominator of 1. • Examples: • To convert percents into rational numbers, put them over a denominator of 100. • Examples:

  5. To convert mixed numbers into rational numbers, multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the numerator to get the new numerator. Keep the denominator. • Example:

  6. To convert decimals into rational numbers, put the decimal part as the numerator and put the place value of the last digit as a denominator. • Examples: • If there was a whole number part of the decimal, now treat it like a mixed number. • Example:

  7. Convert the following into rational numbers:
