ABOUT NEET National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET - UG) is one of the toughest medical entrance examinations conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to undergraduate (MBBS/BDS/Ayush Courses) every year. Formerly, it was conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education, from 2013 to 2018. NEET-UG replaced the All India Pre Medical Test (AIPMT) and all individual MBBS exams conducted by states or colleges themselves in 2013. NEET-UG also replaced AIIMS and JIPMER in 2020. NEET-UG is a single entrance test for admissions to over 66,000 MBBS and BDS seats across India. It is conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognized Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India. Exam Pattern Conducted by - National Testing Agency (NTA) Medium of Examination – Hindi, English, Urdu, Tamil, Telugu, Oriya, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Assamese, Bengali Mode of Examination – Offline - Paper Based Test (PBT) Type of questions – Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) Maximum score - 720 Duration of Examination – 180 mins Number of questions – 180 NEET Syllabus The NEET 2020 Syllabus is prepared on the guidelines of MCI which contains topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Zoology + Botany) from class 11th and 12th. Eligibility Criteria NEET is mandatory for Indian/Overseas candidates for admission to a medical University in India. Qualification – · Passed the higher/senior secondary examination or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology)/Bio-technology from an Indian University. · English is a mandatory subject. The candidate who is appearing or has just appeared in the 12th may apply for NEET. Minimum qualifying marks – · General - 50% · SC/ST/OBC - 40% NOTE - Candidates above 25 years are provisionally permitted to appear and their candidature is subject to the outcome of pending Petitions before the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Application Process The Application process of NEET 2020 will be in various stages – Online Registration, filling the application form, uploading of photograph and signature and paying the application fee. Step 1 – Visit the official website at https://ntaneet.nic.in/ Step 2 - submit name, date of birth, mobile number and valid email ID. Enter Captcha to complete registration. Step 3 – Post-registration, the user ID and password will be sent to the registered communication details. Login to complete the remaining application process. Step 4 – Post login, enter personal details like name, parent's name, gender, nationality, etc. Step 5 - fill in the details of educational qualifications in the next section. Step 6 – Fill in the communication and permanent address details correctly. Step 7 – Upload any valid government ID proof such as Driving license, Ration Card, Voter ID, Passport, Bank Passbook or Aadhaar Card. Step 8 – Provide three preferences of NEET 2020 exam centres to give the entrance test. Step 9 - For successful completion of NEET 2020 application form, it is mandatory to pay the fees. The paid fees will be non-refundable. No exceptions are entertained. Step 10 – Post a successful payment, click on ‘I agree’ and ‘submit’ the form. The Application form must be submitted before the last date.
