  2. What is Path 1? A team of mission-driven, passionate, and diverse leaders of The United Methodist Church providing leadership to evangelize the United States through new church starts.

  3. Path 1 Seeks to Lead a Movement to… Equip 1,000 planters who start 650 churches that commit to start a new congregation within their first ten years thereby creating millions of new world-transforming disciples of Jesus Christ

  4. Path 1 is… A movement gaining momentum in The United Methodist Church

  5. The Path 1 Movement The roots of this movement are in the core of who we are.

  6. The Path 1 Movement The vision draws us into our future.

  7. The Path 1 Movement It’s NOT a new study group or committee

  8. The Path 1 Movement It’s NOT an attempt to replace the annual conference’s disciplinary responsibility to start new congregations.

  9. The Path 1 Movement It was inspired by our Bishops…

  10. The Path 1 Movement … by our network of congregational developers…

  11. The Path 1 Movement … and by a group of people who have never set foot in our churches.

  17. Because… A huge opportunity exists to reach the rapidly growing non-Caucasian population in the U.S.

  19. There is an Urgent Need: • Not one county in America has a greater churched population than it did ten years ago. • Almost half of young adults see themselves as “other than Christian”

  21. How are we doing? The denomination is making steady progress toward the goals with just over two churches planted per week… But…

  22. How are we doing? … Ultimately we want to plant at least one new church per day by increasing our denominational capacity and church planting systems
