Did you know that when there was an earthquake, the ancient Greeks thought that Poseidon had stamped his foot upon the earth?  And when the sun rose each morning, it was because Apollo had begun to drive his chariot up into the sky?  The ancient Greeks also believed when Persephone traveled to the underworld, summer changed into fall.Come and explore the world of Greek mythology.  As you read, think about what lies behind these ancient myths.  Why do you think the ancient Greeks created them? Consider a myth to explain something in modern terms, because that’swhat you will do later.

The great Olympians are planning a world wide disaster to remind all people of their existence and legacy. One of your jobs is to gather evidence of the impact of Greek mythology on our world. You will be examining essential parts of our culture including language, art, and entertainment.

  6. Task Your task is to explore the ongoing impact of the ancient Greek culture on our modern world. You will look at language, art, entertainment, and business. You will document your work on a worksheet. You will also write your own myth using the “Myth Machine.”
