  3. Usos del imperfecto 1) It is used to express actions that occurred regularly. Ej:Nosotrosíbamosal cinetodos los viernes. 2) To express an ongoing action in the past: Ej:Elena y Juanpaseabanpor el parque. 3) To describe a situation that was taking place when another action (in the Preterite) occurred: Ej:Ellaestudiabacuandosonóel teléfono. 4) Background (time, date, age, weather): Ej:Cuandoéramosjóvenes,éramosmuy amigos. Eranlas 3 de la tarde. (time) Era el dos de mayo cuando…(date) El otrodíahacía mucho calor (weather) Cuandotenía16 años…. (age)
