The Project for Electronic Awareness and Resources (PEAR) has been established to provide aid to a number of Greater Manchester NHS Libraries which are unable to employ an Electronic Services Librarian. The project has been commissioned by 9 Greater Manchester NHS Trust library services. The overarching vision of PEAR is to design, develop and implement mechanisms that will utilise the latest RSS, blogging, and relevant web technologies to promote and exploit remote services for each participating Trust. The electronic services and resources that are developed and implemented should be such that they can be easily maintained by staff at each participating library after the initial 18 month period.
