  2. Aller + infinitive • The following sentences describe what people are going to do: Nathalie va nager. Paul et Marc vont jouer au tennis. • One way of talking about the future in French is the construction aller + infinitive. • Aller is congugated to agree with the subject. Ex. Je vais nager. Tu vas nager. Il va nager. • The activity is always in the infinitive.(Remember: you can only have one conjugated verb in a sentence.

  3. Negative sentences with the close future tense • In negative sentences, the construction is: subject + ne + aller + pas + infinitive Ex. Je ne vais pas nager. Tu ne vas pas nager.

  4. Common questions • Note the interrogative forms: Qu’est-ce que tu vas faire? -What are you going to do? Quand est-ce que vous allez rentrer? -When are you going to come back?

  5. Dialogue • It is Friday at lunch in the cafeteria. You are trying to decide what you are going to do this weekend. Create the following conversation with your partner: • Say hello. Ask your friend how he/she is doing. • Ask your friend what he/she is eating • Ask your friend what he/she is going to do this weekend. • Your friend tells you an activity and asks you if you want to come. • Say you can’t on Friday. You have to work. • Suggest another time/day/activity. • Ask your friend how they are getting to the activity. • Say you will see them on Saturday.
