  6. Grades • 30 % Tests • 10 % Final • 20 % Labs and Projects • Thank you for your $5-$10 donation!We could not do the labs without it! • 20 % Notebooks • (classwork, notes and vocabulary) • 5 % Other Homework • 10 % Quizzes • 5 % Participation

  7. Grading Scale • Regular grading scale • A= 90%-100% • B= 80% - 89.9% • C= 70% - 79.9% • D = 55% -69.9 % • F –below 55% • Grades will be posted on the AERIES Grading System

  8. Intervention • This year biology is introducing intervention to insure success for all students. • After an exam students will have the opportunity to take an exam similar to the unit exam. • Students will have two weeks to complete intervention • Eligibility for a retake exam requires 90 min. of intervention + time to retake test. • Intervention will be offered before and after school Monday –Thursday 6:45- 7:35am and 2:45-3:30pm • Original and retake scores will be averaged regardless of scores. • Staffed by a credentialed biology teacher. • All students who earn below a 70% on an exam are expected to attend intervention. • Complete Details will be sent home next week.

  9. Course Topics: • Intro to Science • Biochemistry • Cells • Cell Energy • Human Genetics • Evolution • Ecology • Human Biology • Kingdoms • Tutors: • Tutors are only useful in addition to students own 2 hours of work a week. • Don’t pay to have someone else do your child’s homework!
