  3. What is Federal Work Study The Federal Work Study (FWS) program is a form of financial aid awarded to students who demonstrate financial need and meet certain eligibility requirements. The Federal Work Study (FWS) program provides part-time employment to students to help with college expenses.

  4. FWS Eligibility Rules Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress* each semester If you have to appeal you are not eligible for FWS * Review SAP Reminder Sheet Enroll in at least 6 units each semester **If at any time during the semester you drop to below 6 units, you will no longer be eligible or work study and must stop working.**

  5. FWS Award Amounts Annual award = $4000 The annual award is the total amount for both the Fall and Spring semesters Hourly rate of pay is between $10.00-$10.50* *depending on experience and position

  6. FWS Schedules Maximum hours per week = 20 Maximum hours per day = 8 *Overtime is not allowed* You must take a 15-minute paid break for every 4 hours you work in a single day. You must take a 30-minute unpaid lunch break if you work more than 6 hours in a single day.

  7. FWS Schedules If you work the maximum of 20 hours per week you will run out of money before the end of the Fall semester. You will work with your supervisor to make a schedule that fits the need of the department as well as your schedule.

  8. FWS Timesheets

  9. FWS Timesheets FWS Timesheets must be typed. No handwritten timesheets will be accepted. If you work more than six (6) hours in one day your 30 minute break must be reflected on the timesheet (see example).

  10. FWS Timesheets • Start and end times must be either X:00, X:15, x:30 or X:45. • You must round up (or down) depending on the time you started work (use the timesheet aid, if necessary). • Timesheets not completed correctly will not be accepted.

  11. FWS Timesheets Timesheets are due to the Financial Aid Office on the 20th of every month. **It is your responsibility to make a copy for yourself.** Payday is the 10th of the month. Pick up your check in AC-115.
