  2. The Importance of Family • How important do you think Family is to God? • If you add up the mentions of Family, Father, Mother, Son, Brother, Sister… they are mentioned about four thousand times. • Family is so important that God modeled the Church as a family.

Church Family • Elders 1 Tim 3:2-5 • They must have been proven to be able to lead their children to God • Deacons • 1 Tim 3:8-12 • They must be leading their children to God. • Their wives also have to be Godly. • See a common Theme? • Both are about leading family to God and teaching their children to respect God’s will.

  7. God as a Parent • Gave life • Taught rules • Warned of consequences • Warned when disobeying • Punished disobedience • Offered a path for redemption • Forgives when truly repentant • Gives reward to those who obey

Parenting in God’s word • Teach • God’s word • Your rules and morals • Just like in the Bible this teaching is continuous • Warn of consequences of disobedience • Warn and remind when children disobey • Punish Disobedience • Heb. 12:11 No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, for those who have been trained by it, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace. • Offer a Path to redemption • Forgive them when they repent • Reward them with your approval when they obey • Children want your love and approval more than they want Things.

Keys to a good Family • A Good Family depends on good parenting. • Finding a balance between being a Parent and being a friend. • Be a Parent first and a friend second. • Friends come and go but Parents lead to eternity. • Use God’s Tools as a parent. • The Bible • Elders • Deacons • Church Family • Ultimately put yourself in God’s hands and use his examples.
