  2. Deliverables • Microsoft Lync 2010 • SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) Phone capacity • Exchange 2010 – enables voicemail • Contact Centre – for Clearing • Training – on-line self-teach • Engagement & Communications – identify and confirm any accessibility issues (Rachel Barbrook)

Business needs • Find and communicate with the right person • Create a more interactive work environment • Communicate using familiar tools • Make interaction ‘face-to-face’ • Integrate with existing Microsoft Office applications • Reduce existing Telephone exchange costs • Reduce energy and costs for travel to improve Green footprint • Simple to use requiring little training

Lync is not a ‘spy on my desktop’ • Provides immediate, visual representation of availability to talk, meet and communicate • Webcams can only be used if you choose to • RAG Presence uses Outlook calendar or manually entered by you e.g. Do not Disturb or computer not in use. • Presence can be seen both up and down the hierarchy

  5. Changes • Phones/Headsets • USB connected to Desktop • PoE (Phone over Ethernet) connected through socket • Headsets optional • Desktop • Install Lync Client software (across the network) • Webcams • For those that require video conferencing capability

Lync deployment • 2,500 staff across the campus – audit to understand where each person is and their likely usage FEBRUARY • Training preparation to use the Standard and Advanced features – Demo facility & Online Training material APRIL • Order of deployment – Commence ‘Push’ to desktops and connection of phones MAY • Deployment complete – OCTOBER • Non-Staff phone replacement – once Staff deployment completed

Lync Features • It’s a phone! • Desktop provides the new Standard additional features: • Presence – who’s available to contact • Contacts and groups from the DMU online address book and your personal contact list • Instant Messaging for quick and simple communication • Plus familiar tools such as voicemail, call transfer & forwarding, Response (Hunt) groups.
