  2. HR POLICY 413- Breaks/Meal Periods - Introduction This module is designed to introduce to all Bayfront team members new guidelines for managing meal/break periods and missed/shortened meals. The Break/Meal Period Policy, Acknowledgement Form, and Time Clock Adjustment/Missed or Shortened Meal Periods Form (#68) will be available on Baynet. By completing this module team members are acknowledging training and understanding of the reporting process regarding the reporting of missed and/or shortened meal periods. Team members also acknowledge by completing this module they understand that it is their responsibility to report any missed and/or shortened meal periods (of less than 30 minutes) to their supervisor and/or manager and they must complete the “Time Clock Adjustment/Missed or Shortened Meal Periods form (form #68) and must submit to their supervisor/manager by the end of their shift. Team members that have additional questions need to see their supervisor/manager. 2

  3. Meal Periods • Team members who work six (6) or more continuous hours are eligible to receive an unpaid meal period of thirty (30) minutes • Meals periods will be unpaid • Meal periods should be taken in non-work areas to avoid interruptions • Team members who remain on duty at their workstation and are not able to take an uninterrupted break from their work, must complete Form #68, Time Clock Adjustment/Missed or Shortened Meal Period Form before the end of their shift and will be paid for the time worked • Meal periods should not be scheduled at the start or the end of a shift

  4. Breaks/Rest Periods • Non-exempt team members must arrange break/rest periods with their supervisor/manager. • A fifteen (15) minute rest period may be scheduled at the discretion of the supervisor/manager for each four (4) hour continuous work period. Breaks should be approved in advance and are subject to change based on business needs. • Breaks and rest periods may not be accumulated or taken at the beginning or end of any shift. • Exceptions are made for medical reasons through Employee Health and Human Resources.

  5. Team Member Responsibility • Nonexempt team members must clock-out/in whenever leaving campus, regardless of the length of time • Nonexempt team members MUST complete a Time Clock Adjustment/ Missed or Shortened Meal Period Form (#68) when a meal period is missed or interrupted, and is less than 30 minutes due to work issues • Completed Time Clock Adjustment/Missed or Shortened Meal Period Form must be turned into your manager by the end of your shift • On a daily basis, you are required to review and approve KRONOS and any other payroll detail report that indicates a meal period deduction • You are responsible to report any missed or interrupted meal period of less than 30 minutes that has not been compensated appropriately to Human Resources

  6. Supervisor Responsibilities • Supervisor/Manager must cancel your meal deduction in KRONOS so that you are properly paid • Supervisor/Manager will ensure that you review, approve and acknowledge the KRONOS or other payroll report for accuracy • During department orientation, new hires will be provided with the Time Clock Adjustment/Missed or Shortened Meal Period Form (#68) and the location of any department specific process
