  2. PREVIOUS ACTIVITY: • Translation of NASA Videotape “Swift catching Gamma Ray Bursts on the fly” • Approved ASI proposal, in collaboration with Alenia Spazio (To) e OAR , funds were received in 2001 • Italian Swift web site • 3D postcards (red and green glasses) with a reproduction of the satellite Swift • Pictures of the San Marco base in Malindi (Kenya) • “Story of a swift and an astronomer “ web and GEMS guide • Exhibition of X-ray mirrors and posters , see the page of the exhibition on the web • http://www.brera.mi.astro.it/docB/poe/eXpo/index.html • Swift model scale 1:6 by Mr. F. Zagni • Conferences related to Space

  3. FUTURE: • The material produced for Swift, and new ideas for the EPO-Swift program were illustrated at a meeting with the Italian Space Agency (ASI), held in Rome July 7th. • The positive result has been that we were asked to apply for funds within the National Joint Communication Plan related to activities before and after launch. • The project proposal will be addressed to schools and the general public and it will include: • Lectures and invited seminars at the Planetarium of Milan • Public lectures about GRBs and Swift mission, with distribution of our new “cut and paste model” to schools • In collaboration with NASA EPO, if requested, translation of material • related to the mission ( ie. The NASA videotape …)

  4. ….FUTURE: • Production of original material: poster , postcards…. • Public event for the launch ( in agreement with Italian Space Agency ) : • 1) Traveling exhibition: explaining science and physics related to Swift • 2) School programs and the possibility of making experiments with particular attention to the Italian participation • Trigger the Educational Channel of Italian Television ( RAI –Educational) • We will also propose, in this case however the implementation may be more difficult: • A competition for undergraduate students : the prize a possible exchange of winner students among participant Institution ( in Italy, and eventually in • UK, USA) it would help me to have a plan in collaboration with UK and US.
