  2. Major Eye Problems and Their Treatments Eyes are the most sensitive organs of human body. Therefore, they require the best of the health care. However, weakening of eyesight with aging is a universal phenomenon. Moreover, as per various researches, the biggest fear of people turning 40 is the thought of the loss of vision. As a matter of fact, they are not afraid of losing their memory as much as they are afraid of weakening eyesight. Nonetheless, the occurrence of vision problems does not wait until a person enters its mid ages if he or she has not been paying needed attention towards its eye care. Even in early ages, a minor eye problem can turn into a major eye disease due to lack of attention or treatment. For an instance, various eye problems such as cataract or glaucoma begin with a minor sensation of itchiness, irritation or inflammation. The major causes of these are excessive eyestrain, allergies, exposure to UV rays, Etc. Apart from these, various common health issues which include diabetes, hypertension, and obesity also causes a major threat to our eyesight. Few major eye problems that occur to people because of inappropriate eye care are Cataract, Diabetic Retinopathy, Refractive error, and Eye cancer.

  3. The most common eye problem is that of refractive error. Whether it is nearsightedness, farsightedness or astigmatism – the inability to see things clearly can be extremely bothersome. The most popular corrective measure to deal with refractive error is the use of spectacles of contact lenses. Nonetheless, in order to attain a permanent solution; undergoing a Lasik eye surgery is highly recommended by doctors. In the case of cataract, the lens of our eyes begins to cloud. A translucent layer of protein starts to accumulate in front of the eye lens. Hence, blurs the vision. The only cure to cataract is to undergo a surgery. If not treated in time, cataract continues to grow and can cause total blindness.

  4. Another major eye disease is diabetic retinopathy. It is a retinal problem that occurs to people suffering from diabetes. The excessive sugar level in the blood damages the retinal blood vessels. Eventually, it leads to detachment of retina due to abnormal growth of blood vessels over the retina. Hence, it leads to severe vision loss. The treatment of diabetic retinopathy is to have a retinal surgery. However, this has to be adopted before the condition gets too severe. The surgery is conducted to remove the fluid and prevent the retina from detaching. Other than the above-mentioned problems, the most troublesome eye disease is eye cancer. There are different types of eye cancer broadly classified as primary and secondary ocular cancer. The type of eye cancer developed by a person depends upon the causes of it. The two most common eye cancers are melanoma and retinoblastoma. Eye cancer treatments can be carried by ways of surgery, radiotherapy or chemotherapy.
