SCIENCE AND INNOVATIONS OSU is a tool for innovative development of the region. • The University has: • Over 1000 Doctors and Candidates of Sciences; • 6 Dissertation Councils; • 57 Doctoral and Postgraduate programs in 29 research fields. • The University houses: • Engineering Center; • Small Innovative Enterprise; • 4 Research Institutes, 11 Research and Education Centers, Science and Technology Park,12 Specialized Research Laboratories; • Botanical Garden, Meteorological Station, Geological Museum, Planetarium.

INFORMATION ENVIRONMENT • OSU provides: • Multi-channel Internet access at 470 Mbps; • 133 computer classrooms; • Research Library stock with more than 1 million • books; • 13 reading rooms with 694 study places, 60 of them • are completely automated and computerized; • mass media: “Orenburg University” newspaper, scientific journals “OSU Bulletin” , “Intelligence. Innovations. Investments” (both are on the list of the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles), “Step Up to Science”, OSU site www.osu.ru (огу.рф), “University District” journal.

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION Over 60 agreements are signed with foreign partnersfrom CIS and far-abroad countries. • OSU: • is home to over 1000 international students; • promotes academic exchange with the universities of Finland, Germany, Japan, China, France, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Sweden, the USA and former Soviet Union countries; • students study foreign languages with native speakers from partner universities; • annually takes part in DAAD, Erasmus international programs; • holds International Summer School for foreign students.

SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT OSU provides suppotive environment for developing a harmonious personality and healthy lifestyle. • 25 creative teams unite over 2000 people; • Faculty of Public Professions; • 17 sport clubs; • OSU Volunteer Center “OSU Volunteer”; • Regional Center for training Student Construction Brigades.

SOCIAL ENVIRONMENT • OSU has: • 8 modern dormitories which provide accommodation for 2000 students ; • apartment houses for university staff; • Students’ Medical Center ; • Food Service: 25 lunchrooms and 6 cafes; • Students’ Cultural Center “Rossiya”, Palace of Youth Creativity “Progress”, Educational and Sports Complex “Pingvin”, a Gym.

UNIVERSITY AND BUSINESS • Among the most active OSU partners are the leading regional companies and enterprisers like“Strela”, Gazprom Dobycha Orenburg, Operation Center of Baikonur ground-based space infrastructure, Volga Branch of Interregional Distribution Grid Company “Orenburg Energo”, “Orenburg Heat-Generating Company”,“Oreburgoblgaz”,etc. • 26 university departments’ branches are located at the premises of regional enterprises . • Over 1000agreements regulate cooperation betweenOSU and business entities.

  13. UNIVERSITY AND HIGH SCHOOLS The University Educational Cluster • 60 cooperation agreements are signed between OSU and municipal and regional high schools. • OSUholds 4 inter-regional Olympiads for high school students and the winners are granted privileges to enter in Russian universities. • OSU coordinates International education project “Eurasian Olympiads and Competitions”. • 18 branches of university’s departments are located in high schools. • “Orenburg University (Educational) District” Association unitesover 150 educational institutions.
