Key Vocabulary • Challenged – a book is objected to by someone and a request is made to have it removed from the environment • Banned – the request to have the book removed is accepted and it is not longer accessible to the intended audience • Censorship – the act of blocking all or part of a text because it is deemed offensive, inappropriate, harmful or sensitive

  3. Small Group Discussion • Read out loud your case studies of banned books from last year. • 1. What trends to do you see? • 2. Are there any cases you agree with? Why? • 3. Are there any cases you disagree with? Why? • What does your list teach us about our current society?
