How would you define conflict • Conflict, a way of deciding and fighting for what you think is right. • Confronting a person or thing physically or emotionally. • Conflict is fighting within the self or with others either physical or emotional. • Conflict: relationships, internal, social conflict, physical conflict, emotional, conflict of ideas and values, religious conflict…

  2. 1. How does conflict exist in the play • Physical and emotional conflict. • Conflict between parents and children. • Inner conflict. • Physical conflict exists between the two families each time they meet (act 1.1, act 3.1) • Sword fights, deaths… • Emotional conflict: Romeo’s unrequited love for Rosaline; Juliet’s initial reactions about her love for Romeo…

  3. 2. What have you learnt about the experience of conflict • Conflict: peers, law, want for revenge, relationships, self (depression, emotions, issues)… • Varied. • No one conflict is the same. • Hard to resolve. • Builds from nothing to being out of control. • Conflict always ends with one or more parties being hurt. • Conflict can lead to separation with your family and friends.

  4. Question 3 conflict resolution • People with higher power, usually resolve the conflict. The Prince in scene 1. • Conflict breaks up relationships, no matter how strong they are. • Peace does not last • The conflict is almost never solved fairly.
