  2. Introduction DR. Doolittle is very busy and needs an assistant to help him learn about more animals!!! Can you be his little helper? I know you can so lets get started!! Pick your favorite animal to explore

  3. Your Task With a given partner you will research your favorite two animals (you each pick one) Using the provided resources (websites and textbook) you and your partner will answer questions about your animals With all of your researched information you and your partner will create a poster and a 2-4 minute presentation about your animals (pretend you are presenting to DR. Doolittle) Examples of animals

Process You and your partner each choose one animal to research (please tell the teacher your choices) Answer the following questions about your animals using the provided resources (make sure this information is on the poster) What animal group does it belong to? (mammal, reptile, bird, etc.) What habitat does it live in? What is the weather like in this habitat? What does the animal eat?

  5. Process continued What is your animals life cycle? EX: What basic needs does this animal have? What is an interesting fun fact you learned about your animal? What special adaptations does this animal need to live in its habitat? Share your research with the class using a poster presentation

  7. Process Continued Your poster should include A picture of your animal A diagram (picture) of your animals life cycle Answers to the questions What animal group does it belong to? (mammal, reptile, bird, etc.) What habitat does it live in? What is the weather like in this habitat? What does the animal eat? What special adaptations does this animal need to live in its habitat? (label on the picture) What is this animals life cycle? (label) What basic needs does this animal have? What is an interesting fun fact you learned about your animal?

  8. Process Continued Your presentation should include What you learned about your animal Where you found your information Explain your poster Explain why you choose your animal Explain why you should be DR. Doolittle's little helper

Evaluation Poster • The poster is neat, colorful and easy to understand • All questions are answered on the poster • Pictures are included and labeled • There are no spelling or grammatical errors • All information is accurate and labeled Presentation • Partners take turn presenting information • Speak loud and clear • Make eye contact • Cooperation/ Teamwork is apparent • Time was managed appropriately

  10. Evaluation continued Rubric points (each section gets points) 1= needs improvement 2= average/satisfactory 3= outstanding Grading 27-30 points = A 24-26 points = B 21-23 points = C 18-22 points = D

  11. Conclusion Always remember that all animals have basic needs that have to be met in order for them to survive. Now that you are an expert on your animal I think that DR. Doolittle would be glad to have you as his little helper!! I know I am!!
