Initial Steps towards Digital AIM: D-AIMAIXM5 User Group Meeting

This text discusses the introduction of Digital AIM (D-AIM) and its potential benefits in the field of aviation. It covers the current situation, obstacles, and future prospects of standardized data exchange. The text also highlights the features and architecture of D-AIM, including its use of AIXM, AMXM, and WXXM standards. Examples of seamless data fusion and D-AIM services are provided, along with the potential benefits of implementing D-AIM.

  9. Digital AIM (D-AIM) • AIM Requirements • Deliver timely and filtered quality information into user contexts • Move towards a state of information exchange and sharing • EC 552/2004 interoperability regulation • D-AIM high level principles • Investigate new digital services in addition to current AIS output • System-wide approach • Separate data transport from data application • Open and interoperable data sharing • Focus on geo-spatial increment • Leverage existing standards • LFV Sweden – EUROCONTROL collaboration

  11. D-AIM featuring (1) • D-AIM architectural approach based on a Service Oriented Architecture • Loose coupling: service dependencies are minimized; • Autonomy: services have control over the logic that they encapsulate; • Abstraction: services hide logic from the outside world; • Reusability: logic is divided into services with the intention to promote reuse; • Discoverability: services are designed to be outwardly descriptive so they can be found and assessed via available discovery mechanisms. • Use of OGC web services specifications • D-AIM embeds AIM standards into the current system to achieve geospatial information sharing • AIXM, AMXM, WXXM • OGC-OWS: WMS, WFS, WCS, CSW

  12.
