  2. We are going to build a city! • Each CC2 class is going to be designing a city and building a model of their city

  3. We are going to build a city! • The model cities will be on display during finals week • Teachers will vote on the best city!

  4. City Manager • Each class will vote on a City Manager. • This will require a great deal of work and understanding, but it also is a powerful leadership position for the project.

  5. City Manager • The City Manager will be in charge of: • organizing the city • assigning buildings • helping other students do the math • designing the layout of the city • running a team to put the city together. • Let’s vote!!

  6. Partner Assignments • Some students will be working in partners and some will be working alone • I will assign partners and seats in the room • These will be your seats for the next two weeks

  7. Our City • We will be designing a small city • We want to encourage people to come visit our city • Our city is small so there are no skyscrapers, just regular buildings

  8. Buildings in Our City • Let’s brainstorm what kinds of buildings we could have in our city

  9. What buildings do we include? On the white board, we will make a list of possible buildings to include in our city Brainstorm! Raise your hand and wait to be called on to share your ideas so I can get them all written down

  10. Scale Factor Practice • The City Manager will decide which buildings to include in the city and give building assignments to the class • While this is done, you will be working on a scale factor practice sheet to help you complete the project more easily

  13. Supplies • Remember: • Bring in tape, glue sticks, and/or construction paper and your parents will earn a parent hour for each $10 they donate!
