  1. Proposals for FP7 Zaragoza November 2005, IDEA meeting F. Piquemal (CEN Bordeaux-Gradignan)

  2. FP 7 should be a continuation of FP6 • FP6 was to start collaboration between european DBD experiment, FP7 should be a • step forward. • Difficult to propose ICR or experiments • Common points: • production of isotopes • purification of sources • low background materials selection • radon suppression • background reduction • muon and neutron induced background • associated low background measurement facilities • ….

  3. A DBD network in FP7 ? Several experiments to test several nuclei with different technics to be able to detect DBD and also to confirm a possible signal. Could we organize a real network of DBD experiment ? An european DBD virtual lab ? DBD comitee to have interface with APpEC, ILIAS,…. ? In any case, we need to keep a network for regular meetings

  4. What could be JRA activities WP: European bank of isotopes To continue the european bank of isotopes to get from few g to several tens of kg of 82Se, 76Ge, 130Te, 150Nd, 48Ca,116Cd, 136Xe, 124Sn….. Russian facilities for enrichment exist but how many times will they work and/or will they be available for DBD enrichment ? Radiopurity measurements, purification Could be useful to build prototype for new detectors

  5. Activities correlated to isotopes and sources • WP1: Purification processes distillation, chemical or physical methods. • WP2: Developpement of detectors to measure radiopurity levels: • Germanium detectors, dedicated detectors like Bi-Po detector, bolometers,…. And may • be also how to use existing DBD detectors for low background measurements • WP3: Source making (thin foils, crystal growing,….) • - WP4: To study how to change the form of the source ( how to change from crystal to thin foil per example)

  6. Techniques improvements • Improvement of existing techniques ? • Bolometers • Semi-conductors • Tracko-calo (tracking detector, organic scintillator, source making,…) • WP1: R&D for new techniques Cobra, Edelweiss,….. • WP2: Studies for extrapolation for 1 ton detector to go below 10 meV • WP3: Background studies

  7. WP Radon Air purification system Protection against radon Detectors for measurements WP Simulations tools Common generator for bb emitters, background isotopes Data for muon spallation, for neutron captures Bank of low background materials for detector structure Theory and correlated physics program measurements Network and WP
