  1. Lewis Letter # 4Volleyball and Substance Abuse Parents and teachers, We have just completed our Tennis unit with our students. It went really well. One concern is always safety and we did well with our first unit using striking implements. Many students impressed us with the great hand eye coordination. We are very proud of the progress we are making. Our new unit is starting on October 28, 13. We will begin the volleyball unit. A great follow up to tennis because the student have learned about the concept of volleying the ball over a net. They students will learn and practice the skills: serve, spike, bump pass, and set pass during the volleyball unit. We will use the appropriate equipment for the students that may include a suspended volleyball, beach ball, or balloon. It varies per student so we will use what works best. Our health lesson topic is Substance abuse . We will discuss harmful effects that various substances can have on the body. Learning how things effect they body differently. Including alcohol and tobacco.
