3. ABOUT UNIVERSITY In 2018 Al-Karim Education Trust, established Al-Karim University in Katihar, Bihar, India. In fact, the same educational trust is managing Medical College and Hospital. Moreover, this private university is one of the first six private universities in Bihar and functions under the Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013. 4. ABOUT UNIVERSITY The university offers medical courses like MBBS and Master of Science (MS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) courses in various medical specialties. Moreover, it offers 4.5 years of bachelor's degrees in science and other fields like radio imaging and optometry, Physiotherapy (BPT). It also offers a 3-year undergraduate degree in Computer Application (BCA) and a 3-year postgraduate degree in Science (M.Sc.). In MBBS, 50 percent of seats are reserved for candidates belonging to the Muslim minority community. There are other master's degrees in various medical subjects such as biochemistry and anatomy. In total, the university offers 32 courses including 9 undergraduate and 23 postgraduate courses.

8. HISTORY In the year 1986, the National Education Policy identified Katihar district in Bihar with special emphasis on development and education. Also, the Ministry of Minority Affairs stated that despite having sufficient capacity, backward region lags far behind in areas such as education and healthcare. The Trust established Al-Karim University, Katihar in 2018 through the Bihar Private Universities Act, 2013 and the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized the university in 2019. Soon after the establishment of the university, Katihar was incorporated into the Medical College, Katihar. 9. INFRASTRUCTURE Foundationally, Al-Karim has a world-class infrastructure. And, it provides all basic facilities to students. For instance, there are facilities like housing, healthcare, a library with thousands of textbooks and reference books. Other facilities available for the students are:- Library and Laboratories Actually, the library is the cornerstone of the institution. It provides access to print as well as digital resource material. In fact, the one at Katihar Medical College has more than 17000 books. Moreover, it houses many tools and technology as well. For instance, there are V.C.R, Scanner, Printer, T.V., etc. Besides, the central library has three reading rooms.

Hence, the Al- Karim University has rooms for undergraduate and post- graduate students. Moreover, the rooms are adequately semi- furnished. Additionally, they have AC as well. However, for the undergraduates, the rooms are not available on a single- occupancy but sharing basis. IT Facilities: Now, it is the age of technology. Hence, none of the areas can stay not-affected by it. So, the University has acknowledged the need for an advanced IT facility and given access to an IT-friendly Infrastructure.
