  3. ABOUTUNIVERSITY Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR) is one of the oldest universities in the country. It was established in the year 1995. It is present in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The objective of the Institute is to conduct a multi-disciplinary analysis on growth issues. This covers economic policies, oil policies, and environmental policies. IGIDR has been dedicated to teaching and research excellence since it was founded in 1987. It is a state-of-the-art research institute created by the Reserve Bank of India to conduct multi-disciplinary research on development issues. It was then known as a university. The Institute's study agenda is governed by policy issues, the research priorities of particular faculty members, and sponsor programs. However, science needs to be strengthen and diversify to meet changing needs. While the right to choose research topics remains for independent researchers, the boundaries of information need to be broader so that the new challenges can be met.

  5. Indira Gandhi Research Institute (IGIDR) is an advanced research initiative launched and fully financed by the Reserve Bank of India to conduct scientific research on development issues. On 14 November 1986 IGIDR was licensed as a self-employed society and in January 1987 as a public trust. Shri Rajiv Gandhi, then Prime Minister of India, opened the campus on the 28 December 1987. In accordance with Section 3 of the UGC Act, the Institute was subsequently got a recognition as a Deemed University. Starting as a research university, in 1990, a Ph.D. in developmental studies was established as a fully-fledged teaching cum research organization. The Ph.D. program aims at developing scholars from different disciplines who can tackle fiscal, energy, and environmental policy issues. The M. Phil Software was introduced by the Institute in 1995. In 2003, the M.Sc. curriculum began with a view to bringing students into the science field faster. The Institute currently employs approximately 150 people and scholars, including approximately 26 full-time faculty members, 24 non-academics, and approximately 90 MSc/M.Phil/Ph.D. students. HISTORY

INFRASTRUCTURE • The Institute is present on 14 acres of the hilly site in Goregaon, east of the town of Mumbai, 15 minutes by public bus, and 20 mins away from the national and international Mumbai Airports by train from Goregaon Railway Station. • The College has four classrooms, two lecture halls, a conference hall, and an assembly hall with installations such as the Projector, Document Camera, Wi-Fi Internet access, Digital Lecture, and Virtual Conference System. The atrium has about 500 seats. • Hostel facilities on campus are available to students. The Institute has a 50-bedroom guest house as well. • Club library, table tennis, badminton courtyard, tennis court, jogging path, professionally fitted playground, pools, and kids' park inside Institute grounds are also available. Recreational services include a restaurant. • IGIDR Has an advanced CC, and IGIDR Library is one of the nation's biggest specialist research and analysis libraries. • The staff and students are also getting compensation by group medicine. A consulting physician is also available for appointments on working days for campus residents. The Institute also provides students and staff with canteen facilities.

The courses provided by the University are • Sc in Economics - The Masters in Economics program offers students intensive practical instruction in economics, a focus on the expertise in analytics, problem resolution, and expression of growing concerns in national and foreign policy. The Masters in Economics program is two years. A master's research is available for this program. • Phill and Ph.D. - M.Phil. is a two-year program especially for those who would like some theoretical and practical knowledge but who do not want to pursue their doctorate. • The Ph.D. program is available to include academic analysts and experts capable of carrying out policy analyses from a quantitative and interdisciplinary viewpoint on national and international economic and development problems. Whilst encouraging an interdisciplinary approach, the program, in its efforts to solve numerous sustainability challenges, places some greater focus on the economy. Doctoral researchers is necessary, within four years of entering the Institute, to apply for their doctorates. Both the M.Phil. And Ph.D. programs entail satisfactory completion of the work and the thesis. COURSES
