ABOUT UNIVERSITY The Government of India in 2016 changed the status of the university from a state university to a central university by the virtue of an act passed in the parliament on May 26, 2016. The university is fairly new however in reality its history goes far back to 1878. Since then the university has seen many ups and downs and is presently now a premier center of learning agriculture. The institute furthermore is an Institute of National Importance. Moreover, the institute has under its belt has seven colleges. These colleges deal in the diversified fields of agriculture.

  6. HISTORY Established as the Imperial Agriculture Research Institute the institute operated in its formation days independence. Since then the University has gone through a sea of changes. The university which was initially established in Bihar Pusa as an Agriculture research institute in 1905 was actually moved to Delhi Pusa because of the devastating Bihar Earthquake. However, the buildings and infra could not be moved thus the Government of Bihar transformed the remaining infra of the institute into Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University. Thus the history of the institute goes back to 1905 however it can be correctly said that the institute was formally established in 1970 by the Government of Bihar. However, from 1970 till 2016, the institute was just a research-based center of study, and only in 2016, the Government of India changed the institute into a central University. Furthermore, it is only in 2016 that the university received its formal name of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Agricultural University.   7. CAMPUS The campus of the university carries a thorough and well- accounted history. Moreover, the campus was set up in 1975. The campus is in Darbhanga Bihar.
