  2. History • The Boston red Sox originated in Boston in 1901, making them the sixth oldest team in baseball. In 1903, in just their second year of existence, they won the world series. In 1907, they changed their name from the Americans to the Red Sox, and took off. From 1903 to 1918, the Sox took home 5 World Series and were the best team in baseball. Until Babe Ruth was traded to the Yankees. They didn’t win a Series until 2004, an 86 year dry streak.

  3. Players • Their greatest players ever in play in the organization. • Ted Williams, number 9, the greatest hitter ever known. He hit .406 in a single season, and was great. • Carl Yazeremski, number 8, a 16 time All Star. One of the one five players to win the Triple Crown. • Carlton Fisk, number 27, Pudge had the most dangerous arm of is time. • Jim Rice, number 14, the fastest threat of the 70’s and 80’s. • Johnny Pesky, number 6, the heart and sole of the Sox.
