  2. What Happened ? • The Continental Army was sent to Valley Forge for the winter . • There was extremely harsh conditions to live in. • It was very cold and they died from frostbite and starvation.

  3. When and Where did it happen? • In 1778, Valley Forge was located about 20 miles west of the British.

  4. Who was involved? • George Washington was the leader of the Continual army. • Marquid De Lafaytte and Friedrich Von Stewbencame from France and Germany to help with the army.

  5. Why did it happen? • The Patriot army needed a place to stay to wait out the Winter.

  6. Pros and Cons of Patriots • Pros • Fighting on their own land • Assistance from France and Spain • Led by General Washington, known as an amazing leader at the time • Cons • Smaller number of troops (20,000 against about 40,000) • Fewer weapons • Extremely brutal weather wore down troops at Valley Forge
