  2. Chop Saw • Safety Glasses • Keep all guards in place • Keep the work area clean • Don’t force the tool • Use the tool for Ferrous metals only. All other metals should be ok’d by the instructor. • Secure the work, never hold by hand

Chop Saw • Don’t wear loose clothing, gloves, ties, rings, bracelets, watches or anything that can caught in the moving parts. • Don’t overreach and keep proper balance at all times • Unplug the tool while cleaning, changing the blade, and performing maintenance • Keep hands on the trigger handle while cutting. Never let your hands come in contact with the saw blade.

  4. Chop Saw • Never saw freehand. Use the table bed vise. • Do not use cutting fluids on the metal while operating the DeWalt machines. Cutting fluid is recommended for the Scotchman machine. • Make sure the blade is not in contact with material to be cut when starting the saw. • Do not cut material thinner than 18 gauge in thickness. • Never operate this machine near flammable liquids.

Horizontal Band Saw • Adjust the blade arm before turning on the machine and making a cut. • Stop the machine before putting material in the vise. • Use coolant oil while performing a sawing operation. Coolant oil is located in the pump can. • Shut off the machine and unplug it before making adjustments and cleaning the machine.

  12. Ironworker Safety • Make sure all guards are in place and that all table adjustment bolts are tight. • Don't ever try to grab a piece as it is being cut. • Remove small pieces from the blade area with a hook, never your fingers.

  13. Ironworker Safety • Never put your hands near a Hazardous area or Pinch Point • If a part is too large to sit on the ironworker table without your assistance, only hold the part if your hands are completely off the ironworker table and no body part could be susceptible to injury. • Never put material in from the back-side of the shear. • Always cut from the infeed table side making sure the material is under the hold-down.

  14. Ironworker Parts • The operators foot must be completely removed from the pedal box after completing each cut. • Use proper shutdown procedures when changing punches, dies, blades, or shims. • Shut off the main power and have the key, (switch) in off position when changing punches and dies. • Turn the main power off when leaving the machine unattended.

  15. Ironworker Safety • Always adjust material hold-downs to allow material to just slide under before attempting to shear. • Don't allow more than 1/8" clearance between the material and the hold-down clamp.
