  1. Who Pays When I Sin? (Romans 14:7-8 NKJV) For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord's.

  2. The Sin of Adam and Eve • The Lord had given Very Explicit Instructions: • (Genesis 2:15 NKJV) Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, "Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat, "but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die."

  3. When They Broke God’s Law, Each One Paid a Price! • (Genesis 3:14-19 NKJV) …………………………………...To the woman He said: "I will greatly multiply your sorrow and your conception; In pain you shall bring forth children; Your desire shall be for your husband, And he shall rule over you.“……. • …… Then to Adam He said, "Because you have heeded the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the tree of which I commanded you, saying, 'You shall not eat of it':

  4. Continued: • "Cursed is the ground for your sake; In toil you shall eat of it All the days of your life. Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. In the sweat of your face you shall eat bread Till you return to the ground, For out of it you were taken; For dust you are, And to dust you shall return."

  5. Consequences of Sin • We all suffer the consequences of their sin! • But we are not guilty of sin because they sinned. • (Ezekiel 18:20 NKJV) "The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself. • (1 Corinthians 15:21-22 NKJV) For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive.

  6. Death, Pain, and Suffering are the consequence of sin. • (Genesis 3:18 NKJV) Both thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb of the field. • (Hebrews 9:27 NKJV) And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

  7. Joseph • (Genesis 37:28 NKJV) Then Midianite traders passed by; so the brothers pulled Joseph up and lifted him out of the pit, and sold him to the Ishmaelites for twenty shekels of silver. And they took Joseph to Egypt. • Who sinned in this? The Brothers did in the lie they told.

  8. Continued: • (Genesis 37:31-33 NKJV) So they took Joseph's tunic, killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the tunic in the blood. Then they sent the tunic of many colors, and they brought it to their father and said, "We have found this. Do you know whether it is your son's tunic or not?"And he recognized it and said, "It is my son's tunic. A wild beast has devoured him. Without doubt Joseph is torn to pieces."

  9. Who Paid For Their Sin? • Joseph First. • (Genesis 42:21 NKJV) Then they said to one another, "We are truly guilty concerning our brother, for we saw the anguish of his soul when he pleaded with us, and we would not hear; therefore this distress has come upon us.“ • The Family and Especially the father. • (Genesis 37:35 NKJV) And all his sons and all his daughters arose to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted, and he said, "For I shall go down into the grave to my son in mourning." Thus his father wept for him.

  10. Achan • When the Israelites crossed the river Jordan, they were given Explicit Instructions Regarding God’s Law: • (Joshua 6:18-19 NKJV) "And you, by all means abstain from the accursed things, lest you become accursed when you take of the accursed things, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble. "But all the silver and gold, and vessels of bronze and iron, are consecrated to the LORD; they shall come into the treasury of the LORD."

  11. Who Sinned? • Achan couldn’t Resist the Temptation: • (Joshua 7:21 NKJV) "When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.“ • Who Paid for his Sin?The Israelites! • (Joshua 7:5 NKJV) And the men of Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they chased them from before the gate as far as Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent; therefore the hearts of the people melted and became like water.

  12. Continued: • (Joshua 7:11 NKJV) "Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. • His Personal Punishment AND His Family! • (Joshua 7:23-25 NKJV) And they took them from the midst of the tent, brought them to Joshua and to all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the LORD. ……..

  13. Continued: • …… Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment, the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all that he had, and they brought them to the Valley of Achor. 25 And Joshua said, "Why have you troubled us?
