  1. Mexican Drug War By: Taylor Conley and SheylaArtiga

  2. Understanding the problem • The Mexican Drug War is mainly due to the fact that different drug cartels fight for regional control of the drug trafficking. • Many Innocent Mexican citizens die every single day because of these gangs. • The cartels are now so powerful that the government cannot control them and the war rages on.

  3. Still understanding the problem.. • This is not only a problem in Mexico but in the United States. • Everyday, United States citizens purchase illegal substances and bring them into the country. • This causes crime in our country and the buyers here, only fuel the drug trafficking further. • You could say this is a massacre

  4. What is the cause of the problem? • The root cause of this problem is drugs and money. • The drug traffickers sell drugs for mass amounts of money and if the buyer does not pay, the dealer then takes him out, or in other words kills him • These cartels are willing to do anything even kill innocent people to obtain control and wealth. And their means: selling drugs.

  5. What is the cause of the problem? • Another cause of this problem could be the people who control the trade and the area. • The cartels cause violence in the region and war for control for the region is constant. • Whoever controls the are has the power to do whatever they want. • Since the government did not completely put a stop to the situation while it was still growing, the cartels are now overwhelmed with power and uncontrollably.

  6. Scope of the problem • We consider this problem to be a federal issue. • This is because it affects not only one area of the United States, but most of it including the citizens.

  7. 3 solutions • The first solution is to provide assistance to Mexico. • Control the people in our country that buy the drugs. Provide sanctions so that people that break the law will have a greater consequence. • Have undercover agents to learn more about cartels and attempt to take down the key people. But this is done of course with the approval of the Mexican government because it is not our country.

  8. The best solution • The best solution would be to provide assistance. We could provide means of defense for the citizens for protection while also attempting to shut down the trade. We could team up with their government and come up with different tactics and ideas. This is better because it is better to work together than to try and stop it alone considering there are restrictions in each country. This would help make both Mexico and the United States safer places.

  9. Why is this the best solution? • This solution could be costly, but in the end, it would help both of our countries. This is a better way to spend taxes then using them to strengthen the border which is not helping at all. • we would be helping another country, and this time they directly affect us as a country.

  13. Letter Dear (Tom Carper, Chris Coons, and John Carney), We are writing to you today, to address the issue of the Mexican Drug War. As you know this is not only Mexico’s problem for it has now become ours. This is an important issue because even though it is in one area, the problem affects a lot of people as American citizens. Attempts to stop the drug trade include costs to strengthen the border and costs for people to try and control the chaos. Some of these fees come out of the American citizen’s pockets as taxes. Including the fact that illegal substances enter into our country. Please consider a possible solution, it may be costly but in the long run it would be the best thing for our country in the attempt to make it a better place: We suggest that since we are helping so many other countries we should focus on Mexico because it affects us directly. There is not much we can do because we do not control what the Mexican government does, but we can assist them in the fight against the Mexican cartels. We could supply more means of defense to protect the innocent Mexican citizens while also taking down the drug trade in our country and supporting their efforts. We could also team up with their government to create tactics in order to take down the central drug cartels and establish sanctions for those who purchase the illegal substances in the U.S. considering we are their main buyers. They only fuel the drug trade to go on. Please notify us on any actions you would like to take supporting our solution. Thank you, Taylor Conley and SheylaArtiga
