  3. Chromebook A Chromebook is a personal computer running Google Chrome OS. The devices comprise a distinct class of personal computer falling between a pure cloud client and traditional laptop. Given its price this hardware is very suitable for the use of students of Tiwi Island College

  4. Google Chrome OSThis operating system is a Linux based operating system designed by Google to work exclusively with web applications. Chromebook, the hardware Tiwi Island College will be using will be run by this operating system.

  5. Installing Google Chrome OS First things first you will need to download Google Chrome OS Beta and Virtual Box. Once you have downloaded the ISO file and unzipped it you can create your virtual disk. Step 1 - Name the Virtual Machine and set OS and type to other. Step 2 - Set the base memory size(RAM) I used 1000MB NOTE: Go easy on this at first you can always bump it up later if needed. Step 3 - Create a new hard disk and boot hard drive. Step 4 -Pick the type of storage you would like I did dynamically expanding storage. Step 5 – Now set your hard drive space. I could spare 2 GB so that’s what I used. Step 6 -Go ahead and Run your new Virtual Machine Step 7 -Begin installing your Chrome ISO Step 8 -Select your ISO image and blast off! Step 9 -Select to install Chrome OS then sit back and watch it install. Step 10 -Enjoy, test and play with Google Chrome OS.

This will help you have more fun with graphic design and photography! 5. Metric Conversion Chart - Tool to quickly convert between different units of measurement for the same quantity. Simply select your desired amount and browse for required conversion. A good help with you math subject or anything you that requires conversion!

  8. PC Performance under Chrome OS Chrome OS is designed to run very quickly in a computer for it only uses what it specifically needs at the time. To maximise the full potential and use of the operating system it is advisable for you to have a sophisticated internet connection. Using Chromebook to run the Chrome OS is the most reliable option for the notebook computer is custom made for use with this specific operating system.

  9. Recommendations I highly recommend having Chromebooks with Chrome Operating Systems, installed with the applications listed above to maximise their learning opportunities. The advantage of this is that the recommended hardware and software cost very little compared to the general market. Its contribution of carbon to the environment will also be very little making this choice economically friendly.

Summary Tiwi Island College is a remote place in Northern Territory which has raised a big concern for having a great amount of young people or students in the area with very low academic skills and knowledge. This presentation has successfully provided a good information about certain products as recommendations to put in use within the College of Tiwi islands. The choice of Chromebooks with Chrome OS and free educational web applications is very advisable for it doesn’t only cost cheap but its also environmentally friendly needing only a very small portion of resources.
