SYTA (Student & Youth Travel Association) • Student & Youth Travel Association is a dynamic partnership of dedicated professionals passionate in promoting and providing travel experiences for students and youth which enhance their social, cultural and educational growth. • Acknowledged as the authority on student and youth travel • Members are recognized for providing the highest quality experiences for student and youth travelers. • Annual conference is the premier marketplace dedicated to the student/youth travel industry

  10. Canadian Sales Mission • Takes place over four days from October 16-19, 2012.  • Typically each DMO’s participation consists of 20-30 meetings with Canada-based tour operators, trade media, plus Canadian Automobile Association training.

  11. ABA (American Bus Association) • The American Bus Association’s annual Marketplace will be in Charlotte in January 2013. • ABA represents all facets of tour operators, motor coach operators and tour suppliers • Annual convention is the largest in the U.S., with usually about 4,000 attendees • Prime target for Greater Raleigh’s pursuit of the leisure-based motor coach market. • Forecasting a three-year commitment before we see results • ABA 2013 Preview

ABA FAM Tour • The ABA FAM Tour will depart from Charlotte Thursday morning, January 10, 2013. • 16 people, including the motor coach driver. • FAM group leaves Charlotte on Thursday morning, January 10, 2013, headed for Seagrove. The FAM will depart Seagrove by 1pm and should arrive in Raleigh around 3pm. • Partner Participation • entertaining/wining and dining from 3pm Thursday, January 10, until they depart the following morning, Friday, January 11, at 8:30am on their way to Smithfield.

  13. ABA FAM Tour • FAM trips, “familiarization trips,”  exist at the pleasure of a vendor to assist the travel professional in becoming “familiar” with their product, a destination, or an experience.

Upcoming Events/July and August • The 'Works: July 4th on Fayetteville Street • For the first time, Downtown Raleigh will be the one and only host of the city’s Fourth of July fireworks extravaganza. • American Cheese Society • The American Cheese Society’s 29th Annual Cheese Conference & Competition is August 1-4 hosted by the Raleigh Convention Center (Private event). The 2012 Festival of Cheese (Open to the public) is one of the biggest and most comprehensive events of its kind boasting some 1,600+ artisan, farmstead, and specialty cheeses and cultured products from throughout North America for attendees to sample.

Upcoming Events/July • Fire in the Triangle • NC Competition Dining takes the “Iron Chef”-style competition format to a new and exciting level. • Where: 1705 Prime Catering and Events at 1705 E. Millbrook Rd.; PREMIERE private event space for Rocky Top Catering • What: Paying guests get to sample each course in a blind tasting alongside a panel of culinary and celebrity judges. • How: The public AND the judges select the winner. Starts with 16 chefs and hosting 15 dinners (started in June), which begin at 6:30pm each evening with a cocktail hour and dinner at 7pm

  18. Upcoming Events/August • Beer, Bourbon & BBQ • Sampling of 60 beers and 40 bourbons. Some of the best BBQ vendors in the area on-site; LIVE music all day • When: August 3 & 4 • Where: Koka Booth Amphitheatre
