Gustar with Infinitives • An infinitive tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. • In English, the infinitive is to + action • To run • To walk • There are three kinds of infinitives in Spanish: • those that end in ar, • those that end in er • and those that end in ir.

  4. What is an infinitive in English? • To + adjective • To + action (verb) • To + noun [Default] [MC Any] [MC All]

  5. What is the purpose of an infinitive? • tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. • Tells who is doing the action • Tells how someone is doing the action [Default] [MC Any] [MC All]

  6. Gustar with Infinitives • infinitivescan be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do. • Me gustacantar. • I like to sing. Me gustabailar I like to dance. • Always use gusta with infinitives. • Me gustajugar al tenis. • I like to play tennis.

  8. Gustar with Infinitives • ¿Te gustacorrer? • Sí, me gustacorrer. • No, no me gustacorrer. To ask a yes or no question just add two question marks and raise your intonation. When answering a question directly, in the negative, use the double no.
