NEWSLETTER >> June, 2010 PACHACÁMAC PRESCHOOL DAY CELEBRATION Our youngest learners enjoyed a diverse and exciting show--which included elements of the circus, dance, and music. the show incorporated these artistic disciplines and used creative symbols to relate a beautiful Pre-Incan tale, and helped us remember our ancestors and history. RECYCLING IS EASY—AND YOU CAN HELP! Primary students attended the educational workshop “Recycling is Easy!”, presented by Tetra Pack S.A. Our students learned that juice and milk boxes can be processed into a substance called “Tectan”, which can be used to make corrugated roofing, desks, and chairs for schools and communities with fewer resources. World Environment / Biodiversity Awareness Day Colegio EuroAmericano was founded with the an environmental mission, and is dedicated to preserving the world’s natural resources. Our environmental philosophy is that students should: 1.Know and understand their natural, social and cultural environment; 2. Value and care for their surroundings and the natural world; and 3. Take action to reduce, reuse, and recycle all materials. World Oceans Day: June 8th was declared by the United Nations to be World Oceans Day. Together with the Organization for the Research and Conservation Of Aquatic Animals (ORCA) , our secondary students participated in a beach cleanup project. Our students meticulously cleaned the Conchan beach, and collected 100 large bags of plastic and garbage. Eurotonka Library We would like to thank all of the parents, teachers, and students for their valuable donations and support, which has helped make the library in San Lorenzo de Manchay a reality. Thanks to you, we were able to collect over 836 books. Through the efforts of our CAS program and students from Minnetonka, Minnesota, we managed to build a library for the community of Manchay.
