  1. Adventures in Computational Thinking By Melissa Tso Visual Programming with Scratch Computational Thinking Image Analysis and Manipulation with Photoshop Scratch is a programming language developed to make it easy to create your own interactive stories, animations, games, music, and art- and to share your creations on the web. Scratch is designed to help young people develop 21st century learning skills. As they create and share Scratch projects, young people learn important mathematical and computational ideas, while also learning to think creatively, reason systematically, and work collaboratively. Computational thinking is a new way of solving problems that gets its name because it uses many of the same techniques used by computer science. Computational thinking can be used to algorithmically solve complicated problems of scale. Image analysis id the extraction of meaningful information from images; mainly from digital images by means of digital image processing techniques. Computers are indispensable for the analysis of large amounts of data, for tacks that require complex computation, or for the extraction of quantitative information. There are come very basic statistical concepts that every college educated person should understand. These are useful for understanding our grade distributions in classes at UCSDand current events. Data Analysis and Visualization with Excel Presentation of Information with Word and PowerPoint Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages • One of the most common uses of a spreadsheet is to chart financial information • We created an annual budget so we can manage our spending while here at UCSD and can know how much extra spending money we have each month. Present complex raw data with easily understandable charts and graphs and displaying them through the filters of PowerPoint and Word. The World Wide Web is a system of interlinked hypertext documents contained on the internet. With a web browser, one can view web pages that may contain text, images, videos, and other multimedia and navigate between them using hyperlinks. Using concepts from earlier hypertext systems, English physicist Sir Tim Berners-Lee, now the Director of the World Wide Web Consortium, wrote a proposal in March 1989 for what would eventually become the World Wide Web
