    3. A Fairer Victoria Priority Area 1 – Getting the best start Improving the health, safety and development of children and families most at risk. Priority Area 2 – Improving education and helping people into work Reducing educational inequality, supporting young people at risk and reducing barriers to workforce participation. Priority Area 3 – Improving health and wellbeing Reducing health inequalities and promoting wellbeing. Grants Funding Planning feasibility study of a drop-in centre for young people developing a community action plan Strengthening communities establishing a network to link-up immigrant artists to improve education and employment opportunities setting up a website to help young people living with violence or domestic abuse Slide 5Slide 5

    9. Data at the local government area level Indicators of Community Strength: Currently 14 Indicators measured at the local government area level. These are summary measures of social, economic and environmental phenomena amenable to public policy intervention. Measured since 2001.     10. Role of Local Government Local government is crucial in all these investment approaches. The importance of local government is increasingly being recognised through: Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Australian Council of Local Government (ACLG) Local government have invaluable knowledge and insight into the specific conditions and needs of their communities.
