  1. Wireless charging system James Cuddy

  2. Project Aims • Get the best efficiency from the inductors provided. • Investigate the effects of shielding on the system. • Build a working prototype of a wireless charging platform.

  3. Wireless power transfer • Use of inductors. • Electric current flowing through a primary coil creates a magnetic field that acts on a secondary coil producing a current within it. • As the distance between the two coils increases, the system becomes very inefficient.

  4. Application • Phone charging. • Reduce the need for plugs. • Save time. • No wires. • Don’t need to remember to charge devices.

  5. Current system

  6. Vin VsVout

  7. Vin VsVout after Full Bridge

  8. System Diagram DC-AC Primary coil Secondary coil AC-DC Battery Charging

  9. Further plans • Circuit analysis with shielding. • DC-AC conversion on source side. • Investigate battery charging properties. • Battery charging circuitry on load side.
