  5. THAT WAS THEN THIS IS NOW • FOLLOWING THE ATTENTION GETTERS WE NOW HAVE _21____ Schools implementing with fidelity __15___- schools that have scored_67____ Or better. __14___-schools below expectations

  6. CELEBRATE!!!!! • TWO SCHOOLS WITH PERFECT PBS SCORES MANDEVILLE ELEMENTARY AND FOUNTAINBLEU HIGH

  7. ATTENTION GETTERS • Lost instructional minutes data • Baseline Evaluations The “TEST” • Superintendent Follow-up • Use of PBS Language with parents of children “at risk” • 1:1 feedback session for schools underperforming

  8. Attention Getters Cont….. • Presentations of Social Competence Immerse the child with the skill and the skill will emerge • MARKETING OF PBS !!!!!!!!!!! • Review at Discipline meetings • Discussion at disciplinary hearings • Climate and culture surveys

Challenges of the JUNGLEMonkies on our back • Schools indicate that they do not have enough time to teach behavior and academics….. • “REWARD” behavior that they are supposed to be exhibiting • Traditional punitive reactive approach • Administrator not attending PBS Monthly meetings • The once-over without rehearsals and boosters

  10. CHALLENGES cont…. • Replacement not punishment!!!!! • NOT JUST POSTERS ON THE WALL

  11. Reinforcers do not have to be tangibles • St Tammany places great emphasis in connecting the behavior to the expectation to assist in internalizing the skill

  12. WHY???? SCHOOL is not always that important to children therefore we want to CONDITION the environment to become more REINFORCING!!!!! By deliberately teaching prosocial behavior and reinforcing that behavior, we teach the student to internalize pro-social behavior. The result….SOCIALLY COMPETENT and SOCIALLY ATTRACTIVECHILDREN
