  2. Business Background • Mirrors is a unisex salon • Company started in 2008 • There are currently 10 employees: 4 expert stylists, 4 novice stylists and 2 attendants. • Mirrors produces and sells their own line of hair styling products for their customers.

  3. Business Need • Mirrors is currently using a paper based process to maintain records. • A more efficient automated information system to record sales, manage inventory and manage financials is needed. • A vehicle to increase sales by making customer information more accessible to stylists and attendants.

  4. Business Requirements • The system will be used to record customer information. • The system should be user friendly in all respects. • Inventory, sales and accounting reports will be kept in an automated information system.

  5. System Inputs • Customer Information such as name, address, phone, birthday and complete record of services performed by date and time. • Product Information including type and price. • Service and Product sales • Stylists appointments put in by attendant

  6. System Outputs • Customer Receipts • Customer Service Records • Sales Reports (by customer, service, and sales) • Inventory of products (items on hand and needed). • Employee schedule • New reports as needed

Adaptability of the employees from the paper based system into the computer based system. • Input of all current paper records. • Knowledge transfer to the employees (training). • Hiring of a new IT professional for system administration, support and maintenance. • Maintaining customer information security.
