  1. NHAI to Transplant Trees on Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has been doing a commendable work for the development of the Highway Project of India. NHAI, which is a nodal agency of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is responsible for 50,000 km of National Highways out of 1,15,000 km in India. One of NHAI’s major projects is the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway, which was launched in March 2018. Currently, NHAI has on its agenda to widen a 4.2 km stretch of land from Mysuru Circle to Kalaswadi Village. However, this stretch of land shelters 209 trees, which in course of the road work, would have needed to be cut down, which posed as a great concern to environmentalists. In order to promote a cleaner and greener environment, NHAI held a meeting with jurisdictional forest officers and green activists, and agreed to transplant a majority of the trees in the medians of the highway. The meeting, which was held on 8th July, was attended by forest officials as well as eco-conservationists. NHAI has proposed to leave a 4.5 m median space for the transplantation of the tree, as confirmed by BT Sridhara, Project Director of NHAI. This is a win-win situation for both NHAI as well as environmentalists, which avoids conflicts. NHAI also plans to hold 3rd party meetings with corporate companies and encourage them to come forward and help fulfill the cause. #BengaluruMysoreHighway #TransplantationofTrees #NHAI
