  1. The Role Of Women In The Church I Cor. 11:2-16

  2. The Changing Church • “The majority of us believe the Bible does not inherently forbid women using their God-given talents within and without the worship assembly” (Elders, Skillman C of C, Dallas). • Cahaba Valley C of C in Birmingham, Al. has on it’s website a picture of it’s 5 elders. 3 men and 2 women

  3. “If by insisting on exclusively male leadership in the church we are keeping people form seeing God’s good news and thereby shutting the kingdom of heaven in their faces, would we not then be answerable to God?...It is exactly this charge of immorality that traditional churches today must endure rightly or wrongly on the issue of female subordination. People turn to the church to find God, and find themselves more ethical and humane than the church.” (A church in Connecticut)

  4. Questionnaire passed out in the church in Dallas asked you to circle one: (1) I am (a woman) willing to serve, (2) I support women serving, (3) While I don’t support, I will accept women serving. • There was no option for members to object. • Churches in Houston are also involved in these activities.

  5. The Value of Women • Is undeniable. • One strong church in N. C. began with two women who met as a church for years without a man present. One of the women converted her husband and helped him learn to “take over”. • Countless stories could be told of the courage and ability exhibited by God’s women. • Preachers, elders and deacon’s wives.

  6. But Is There A Limit On Their Public Service? • And who placed the limit there? • I Cor. 14:34-35 • I Timothy 2:9-15. • These verses aren’t “personally” motivated by our resentment of women “putting themselves forward”. • It’s just God’s instruction.
