  3. THE UNDEFINABLE PARADOX. • Jesus won’t be put in a box or defined easily: • He is the Creator of perfection, who dies for the worst thing He has made (Colossians 1:16-17 and Romans 5:8). • He is the Holy One who chooses the most sinful for friends (1 Timothy 1:15-16) • He sets a standard for us that is perfection (Matthew 5:48) and then dies for us when we fail it (Romans 6:23)

  4. THE UNDEFINABLE PARADOX. • Jesus won’t be put in a box or defined easily: • He belongs in heaven, in fact He is the light that lights it up (Revelation 22:5) yet He chose to come and live in darkness (John 1:5) • He is equal with God, yet He humbled Himself to die (Philippians 2:5-11) • He fills the heavens and the earth and yet He is always nearby (Jeremiah 23:23-24)

  5. THE UNDEFINABLE PARADOX. • Jesus won’t be put in a box or defined easily: • He is fully God and fully man (John 1:1-2,14) -All that God is, He is and yet He is fully man and knows our weakness. • How can He combine holiness and love? • How can He live with the worst of sinners and remain pure? • How can we have the mind of Christ (1 Cor 2:16)?

  6. Stop. Think About Jesus. • Do you think you know Him well enough? • Have you stopped being astounded by His ways? • Are you not afraid of His might any more? • Are you not swept off your feet by His love? • Have you forgotten that He died to be with you?

  7. Stop. Think About Jesus. • He lives in real people. • He doesn’t count things on merit or talent. • He is the extraordinary in our mundane world. • No-one can tame Him, not even death.

  8. John 14:7 Does seeing Jesus tell us much about the Father? Why should we think about Jesus? What are the paradoxes that make Him astounding?
