  2. Presentation Objectives • Explain the Council’s roles and responsibilities • Discuss the Council’s structure • Discuss how the Council brings value to the membership • Bridge the gap between Councils, Regions, Chapters and Members

  3. Council Responsibilities ASSE Strategic Plan – Goal 5: “Gather, encourage and participate in development of the Body of Knowledge to the profession” Primarily responsible for the development, maintenance and delivery of the Society’s technical knowledge and expertise

  4. Bring value to the membership (products/services) • Network our technical expertise (industry-specific) by creating a knowledge exchange platform, which members can easily access • Harness technical knowledge for the Society’s benefit (membership and the SH&E profession) Council’s Focus “Key benefit of belonging to a Practice Specialty is accessto information/networking to assist you in performing your job!”

  16. CoPS “Bridging the Gap” Practice Specialty members provide technical knowledge and skills to Region ROCs/PDCs. Assistant Regional Vice Presidents for Practice Specialties (ARVPs) act as liaisons and facilitate interactions between respective Chapters/Sections and the Practice Specialties, Branches, Common Interest Groups and Standards Development Committee CoPS Chapter Chairs are appointed by each Chapter as a Chapter resource. They keep the Chapter informed of technical issues, standards development, Practice Specialty knowledge and CoPS news.
